Icons are regarded as "image-like holy words" and are "windows to heaven". This course aims to provide students with a basic understanding of icon paintings, how to read icon paintings, and experience how to use them as prayer tools to promote an intimate relationship with God.
Courses cover:
  1. A brief history of the development of icon painting: origin, definition, controversy, positioning, and its relationship with believers;
  2. The art of icon painting: purpose, specifications, basic techniques and artistry;
  3. Spiritual experience of icon painting*: sight reading and silent prayer, icon rubbing, icon painting coloring (advertising color/watercolor/wood color) *Material selection: "Christ and Saint Menas"/"Christ and His Christ and St Menas / Christ and His Friends

object Believers interested in the art of iconography, painting and spiritual practice do not need to possess any advanced painting skills.
date Class B: January 19, 2024 (first and second periods) and January 26, 2024 (third and fourth periods) (Friday)
time 11:00am – 1:00pm and 2:00 – 4:00pm

Quota 15 people (the course will only start if 8 or more people sign up)
Remark
  1. For group registration of three or more people, the tuition fee is HK$1,050 per person
  2. Mail the registration form and check, and the date will be based on the postmark. Tuition fees paid are non-transferable.
  3. Those who have already taken the "Art and Spirituality of Icon Painting" course of our center only need to register for the third and fourth sessions, the tuition fee is HK$580 (for group registration of three or more people, HK$520 per person)
The contents of classes A and B of this course are the same. Students need to bring the following items (those using wooden colors only need to bring items 5 and 6):
  1. Watercolor brushes (round heads) No. 1 and No. 2, or small regular script brushes (2 to 3 pieces),
  2. Advertising color or watercolor (three primary colors, black and white),
  3. Color plates, paper cups/plastic cups,
  4. Small towel/apron, table paper,
  5. Stationery (pencils, red ball pens, erasers, rulers, etc.),
  6. 2 F4 size glue folders (so that you can clip the paintings and carry them)
