Unity in Diversity

Lu Yunxi, Assistant Professor of New Testament Hong Kong Baptist Theological Seminary has a group of talented teachers, each with different gifts and majors; "co-teaching" allows us to use our unique talents and cooperate with each other to move towards a common goal. According to Ephesians 4:11-13, this goal is “…to equip the saints for the work of service, to build up the body of Christ, until we all come to the unity of the faith and the knowledge of the Son of God, Grow up to the stature of the full stature of Christ” (Union Version, Revised Version). The body of Christ is unified in diversity; the role of the seminary is to teach students love, peace, and harmony while encouraging them to pursue their unique identities, passions, and gifts. We must embrace diversity, because only in diversity can we achieve true unity; only through true unity can we grow and experience the full stature of Christ. ...

Rotational Teaching with Flying Colors

Chen Yuen, associate pastor and church music lecturer. In 2014, five teachers in total including Bible and Christian Thought and I taught "Church Worship Studies" together. Since this subject is an interdisciplinary study, it needs to integrate various aspects and pay equal attention to theory and practice. Before the class started, several of our teachers met together to discuss the goals, scope, key content, and homework requirements of the course, so as to help students learn from the Bible, theology, church history, church tradition and etiquette, church worship ministry and pastoral care, and ethical practice , modern cultural situation and other angles to think about the church’s worship ministry. In the classroom, teachers from various majors take turns teaching corresponding topics; I am mainly responsible for coordinating the class, observing each class at the same time, and teaching the second half of the class. I try to integrate the Bible, theology, history and other fields, and then apply them to church worship services to see how to apply and practice them. ...

Positive Sparks from Teacher-Student Interactions

Professor Tang Shaoguang Christian Thought (Theology and Culture) In addition to "Research and Writing" and "Graduation Seminar", the subjects I have co-taught with other teachers in recent years include "Church Worship", "Church Theology", "Weilimon: Worship, ethics, preaching" etc. The easiest teaching arrangement is for each teacher to explain the same topic according to his or her own major, but in this case, there is a lack of interaction between teachers. Although students can listen to the professional knowledge of different teachers in the same subject, it is difficult to see the complete picture. Therefore, some thought must be put into classroom design. ...
