Going into the Community and Sowing the Seeds of Change

On January 16 this year, our college held a "Spiritual Training Day" to prepare teachers and students for the new academic season. The theme of this time is "Going into the Community", but how can understanding and serving the community be spiritual exercises? What does it mean to “work hard” in the community? How does all this relate to evangelism and missionary mission? ...

Campus Extension Project III: A Short Introduction to Its Development

The Conception Seminary in the new teaching and research building of Zhang Lin Xiaoya, Chief Administrative Officer, has made great progress in various aspects such as curriculum innovation and teaching team in the past few years, and the number of students has also continued to increase. In order to support the sustainable and long-term development of the college, the Board of Directors established the "Campus Development Planning Committee" in early 2016. The purpose is to comprehensively understand the development needs of the college and formulate relevant plans. The "Campus Development Planning Committee" immediately established a "Architecture Team" under its jurisdiction, inviting talented professionals to serve as consultants to assist the college administrators in handling land lease modifications and provide professional advice on how to effectively use campus space. After carefully examining the development conditions of the college, the "Campus Development Planning Committee" recommended to the board of directors to build a teaching and research building on campus. The board of directors approved and accepted the proposal, and handed it over to the "construction team" to implement the recommendations. Teachers and students of our college have received the latest information on campus expansion, and professors have also provided opinions on the facilities required for the development of teaching and research in the college. The "architectural team" and professor representatives, together with architects, communicated and discussed with each other to shape the design of the new building. ...

Expanding the Disciple Community of “Faith, Hope, and Love” and Campus Extension

Dean Cao Weitong still remembers that when I took office as the dean nine years ago, a member who cared very much about our hospital came to me and offered to make a substantial donation to the hospital for the construction of a new building. At that time, I thought that I had just become the dean and the school was in dire straits, so I wanted to seek God’s guidance and teach me how to lead the seminary out of the gloomy trough. I cannot live up to the love that my members have given to the college, but everything must be in line with God’s timing, and the top priority is to get the college back on track. So I made up my mind before God and quietly cultivated the soil given by God in the seminary. Wait for the time God has prepared to come. ...

A Spiritual Voyage

Dai Shengming, Master of Divinity, and Teacher Liu Zhenpeng embarked on a spiritual voyage. On January 4, 2016, I officially entered the country and came to Hong Kong Baptist Theological Seminary ("Baptist") from the mainland. My first impression of "Baptist" was that it was quiet and peaceful, clean and tidy. "Baptism God" faces the sea, like a big ship anchored on the shore, ready to sail out to sea at any time. The image is very strong and can be said to be extremely beautiful, far beyond what I imagined. Surrounded by such beautiful scenery, I prayed to God, entrusted my study and life for the past two years to Him, and looked forward to a bright future. ...

Being the Lord’s Disciple in Everyday Life

He Minchao Master of Christian Studies He Minchao and teachers Deng Shaoguang completed the two-year Master of Christian Studies program in the blink of an eye. It’s time to leave Hong Kong Baptist Theological Seminary in a blink of an eye. I entered the school with a "problem awareness" and still remember my decision to enroll in this course. One of the reasons was because I participated in the theological trends workshop hosted by Teacher Deng Shaoguang at the "Theological Thoughts" Bible Study Conference. This was in 2016. At that time, Teacher Tang led a group of participants to think about what kind of theology Hong Kong’s current social and political situation requires. He also said that the church in Hong Kong cannot respond to the social situation in Hong Kong because the church has not focused on thinking about this issue in the past. The church cannot respond because it is actually just bearing the debt it has incurred over the years; however, we now realize that It is better to recognize a problem and start thinking about it than not to think about it at all. It is with this kind of "problem awareness" that I entered "Baptism", hoping to think about relevant issues for the church together with other people of the same mind. ...

The Shaping of a Servant

The Life-Shaping Course of Bachelor of Theology by Ho Chi-mei I am very grateful to Heavenly Father for leading me to enter the Hong Kong Baptist Theological Seminary (“Baptist Theological Seminary”) to complete the four-year Bachelor of Theology course. Studying theology is never easy. In addition to dealing with homework, exams and unlimited book reading, we also have to face reflection on personal life, time allocation, getting along with people from different growth backgrounds, and various challenges encountered in church internships; all of this seems to have become a Heavenly Father gives every theological student the means to practice life and spirituality. Therefore, as a group of theological students who have been called to receive theological education, we not only study hard to improve our knowledge and skills, but we also long to be equipped by the Lord to become servants after His own heart, to shepherd our Heavenly Father with the example of our lives. The flock entrusted to you. ...
