Setting Off Again from the First Station

Liang Yaoming, Master of Divinity, Yaoming, Si En and his son Li said they were both happy and emotional. Looking back on the three years of full-time theological equipment, they were "both happy and emotional." I am happy, because entering the seminary is a gift from God, a response to God’s call, and a starting point for devoting full-time preaching and service. When I was studying theology, I often dreamed of serving in the church after graduation. Even though I had my moments of weakness, I thanked the Lord for His protection and kept me from forgetting that serving the Lord was something I had longed for. I lament that because the time for studying has passed so quickly, I lamented that during the past few years of receiving various trainings in the seminary, I did not seize the opportunity to read more and learn more. ...

To Be Called by God Is to …

Miu Nong Chen, Master of Divinity, is pictured with teacher Chen Zhanming. "We are called to love the giver of all gifts more than the gifts themselves." "We are called to accept difficulties and problems as conducive to growth. "It is a tool that unites us with our fellow human brothers and sisters." "We are called to work together with God, sharing His vision, suffering and final victory."...

Disciple ‧ Missionary

Liang Biyu, first year Master of Divinity, an awakening: learning to be a disciple of the Lord. I grew up in a non-believer's family. God miraculously arranged for me to attend a Christian middle school, giving me the opportunity to know Jesus Christ. As a new believer in the Lord, I often longed to experience God, but the foundation of my faith was not solid. When I was in college, after enrolling in the discipleship training course of Campus Crusade, I realized that God not only requires us to trust Him, but also calls us to become His disciples and surrender the sovereignty of our lives to Him. At the same time, I also realize that the Great Commission is a command given by the Lord to every disciple. This awakening made me start to learn to be the Lord’s disciple, and also to learn to preach the gospel and make disciples. Later, at a camp, I heard this message for the first time—there are many people in the world who have never heard the name of Jesus! This message is like a warning sounding in my ears, and I feel heartbroken that many people have never had the opportunity to hear the gospel. ...

The Same Call at the Same Place

Fang Jinren, first year Master of Divinity, suddenly felt that my playing career was over. I made the decision to believe in the Lord in 2003. Unfortunately, I had only a limited understanding of the salvation of Jesus at that time, and the seeds of the gospel only fell on shallow soil. In the following years, I regarded rugby as my whole life and gradually stopped attending parties. In college, I spent five or six days a week training and competing. I became increasingly alienated from my family, and I ignored their advice. ...

Students’ Testimonies of God’s Call

There are two couples among our freshmen this school year. Jingren and Yongmei are one of them. This issue of "College News" published three articles about sharing the testimony of those who were called to the hospital. The first two articles were shared by Jingren and Yongmei. I hope that readers can see from their stories how God’s call comes to a couple respectively, and how God uses miraculous actions to lead His children to embark on the road of consecration at the same time.

God’s Justice is Unlike Ours (I)

Assistant Professor of Practical Theology (Social Ethics) Huan Chi-wai "In order to fight for justice, why should we not use force?" After the changes in the current situation in Hong Kong in recent years, the social fabric of Hong Kong has become increasingly torn, and people with different political views are fighting against each other. Such voices began to emerge in society. Some Christians cannot resist the temptation of violence with the gospel of peace, and some people even raise the same question within the church. In their eyes, upholding justice, upholding justice, upholding integrity and warding off evil, and hoeing the strong and supporting the weak are the church's most important social missions; some believers even more righteously advocate "resisting violence with force," believing that "sacrifice one's life for righteousness" in this way is the most honorable thing. Like Christ. ...

To Sow in Tears in a Dry Land

Liu Sien, Master of Divinity, Third Year Scripture: Psalm 126 1-6 (revised Union Version) The Lord has indeed done great things for us. In the recent morning meeting, we had the opportunity to hear many new students share their testimonies of their calling. Most of them mentioned that they had never thought about studying theology or becoming a pastor. Many students initially struggled or were reluctant to embark on the path of full-time ministry. I knew a budding preacher who was in a different situation. He was called during his sophomore year of college and wanted to receive theological equipment immediately after graduation, but he failed to do so. He began working in society, waiting to one day enter seminary. Five years have passed, eight years have passed, and he is still waiting, waiting for God's time. He couldn't help but wonder: Has God really called me? How long do we have to wait? ...

The Characteristics of a Preacher

Cai Lixun Master of Divinity Third Year Scripture: Acts 8 26-40 Preface Today I will look at the story of Philip preaching the gospel to the Ethiopian eunuch and learn from it together. From Acts 8:5-6, we know that Philip could both preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and perform miracles, and his gospel work in Samaria was quite effective. Verse 6 says, “When everyone heard and saw the miracles that Philip was doing, they all obeyed his voice with one accord.” Verse 8 even says, “There was great joy in the city.” This is really a picture. Beautiful pictures! I believe that everyone must hope that their evangelistic work will have this kind of effect. We all hope that the people we evangelize will "obey our words with one accord" and "rejoice greatly." However, we also understand that the effectiveness of gospel work is not something we can fully control. Because this is the scope of the work of the Holy Spirit, just as Paul taught the Corinthian church, he said: "I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave it the growth." (1 Corinthians 3:6) As a preacher , what we can do is to plant and water, and think about how to do our part. Therefore, today, through the story of Philip preaching the gospel to the Ethiopian eunuch, let us think together: What qualities should a preacher have? What qualities should we learn? ...

The Full Extent of Jesus' Love

Du Yunting's third-year Master of Divinity scriptures: John 13:1-20 A demonstration of love to the end. I know a hospital director. She is a Christian and is over seventy years old. Before she retired, she personally took care of every resident in the home every day. The residents are all severely disabled and mentally retarded, and they require care for all their daily activities. The dean prepared breakfast at around five o'clock in the morning, fed them with the other two sisters, helped them bathe and change clothes, and took them to special schools... In short, the residents' daily living and food are taken care of meticulously throughout the day. When the director reaches a certain age, he has to step down and let the nursing staff take care of them. ...
