The Book of Numbers has always been seen as a book that records numbers and genealogies, but this book, located in the Pentateuch, is the most important wilderness experience and lesson for the Israelites. Reading this book not only allows us to experience how God never leaves his rebellious people and is personally with them, but also allows us to see the spiritual growth of a nation and the process of generational change. Contents: 1. Overview of the Pentateuch and Introduction to Numbers 2. At Sinai: The Establishment of a Godly Community (1:1-4:49) 3. At Sinai: Requirements and worship of the divine community (5:1-10:10) 4. From Sinai to Kadesh: A portrait of the first generation: the spread of rebellion and internal power struggles (10:11-12:16) 5. At Kadesh: The judgment of being denied entry into the Negev and the imagination of the next generation (13:1-17:11) 6. From Kadesh to the Plains of Moab: The departure of the first generation of leaders and the end of the fiery serpent and the bronze serpent (20:1-22:1) 7. On the Plains of Moab (Part 1): The attack of Balak and Midian and the rise of the second generation (22:1-30:16) 8. On the Plains of Moab (Part 2): The victory of the second generation and a review of the journey (31:1-36:13) |
