The Disorder and Order of the Poverty Alleviation Ministry
Assistant Professor of Christian Education She Zhifeng lives in Hong Kong, where there is a great disparity between the rich and the poor. Many churches try to go into the community, contact the poor, and help neighbors with financial difficulties. However, there are also many churches that have lost their enthusiasm and even left in disappointment after experiencing the joy of helping others. This article uses the approach of practical theological reflection to explore the confusion and myths that may easily arise in the church’s poverty alleviation ministry. It uses a church case as an example to illustrate and then proposes an order to help order the chaos in the church’s ministry. According to Ephesians 4:11-13, this goal is “…to equip the saints for the work of service, to build up the body of Christ, until we all come to the unity of the faith and the knowledge of the Son of God, Grow up to the stature of the full stature of Christ” (Union Version, Revised Version). The body of Christ is unified in diversity; the role of the seminary is to teach students love, peace, and harmony while encouraging them to pursue their unique identities, passions, and gifts.
