To Be Your Vessel
Before entering seminary, I had never heard of the names of theologians and their works, church history, various theological approaches, similarities and differences between denominations, apocrypha and apocrypha outside the canon, etc. I am just a layman who serves zealously in the church, is called by the Lord, and is recommended by the pastor to attend "Baptism". thereforeThese three years of theological equipment have really allowed me to experience the greatness of God more deeply, and how amazing He is!
The word of the Lord is full of wisdom
In the past three years, I have been touched countless times by the descriptions of this glorious Lord by believers throughout the ages in prayer-reading meetings, and I have been amazed countless times by the rich discussions on Christian faith by different theologians. All these have made me realize that the Lord transcends time and space. of greatness. Once I had a deeper experience of being transformed by the Holy Spirit.
Two years ago I took a course on "Deuteronomy". At that time, my stereotype of Deuteronomy was that it was a boring, long book. The teacher asked each of us to write an exegesis article. I originally planned to refer to a few exegesis books and finish the boring exegesis assignment hastily. Remember that lesson requires us to study the "law of marriage between brothers of deceased husbands" which occupies only six verses in Deuteronomy (Deuteronomy 25:5-10). However, I was hampered by the feeling of depression and was unable to write, and the approaching homework deadline made me suffer more and more pressure.
Until two days before the deadline for my homework, I sat on a chair in front of a blank file, three or four Bible exegesis books, and several academic articles. I couldn't help but ask the Lord: Lord, why can't I write? Expounding on just six verses? Unexpectedly, after fifteen minutes, my eyes filled with tears as I looked at those exegesis books, and surging admiration welled up from the bottom of my heart: How could just six verses drive so many Bible scholars to use so many words? Let’s discuss it at length! I ended up reading nearly fifteen articles all night long, all explaining the explanations of those verses. That day, I prayed earnestly and repented for daring to despise God’s word. From that moment on, I couldn’t help but want to share with others: How rich God’s words are, and how unfathomable His wisdom is!
What’s even more amazing is that the Lord not only allowed me to experience how wonderful His words are, but also made me truly realize the deepest calling of this wonderful counselor in my life.
The Lord calls my name
What’s even more amazing is that the Lord not only allowed me to experience how wonderful His words are, but also made me truly realize the deepest calling of this wonderful counselor in my life. Before entering the seminary, I had no feeling about my name. "Hui Ying" was just a name that others used to call me. My parents gave me the name "Hui Ying", which means that I can become a smart child. May I have abundant wisdom, like a vessel overflowing. Unfortunately, since I was a child, my academic performance has not been as good as my parents intended. This has always made me feel an inexplicable distance from my name. I remember that after I shared my calling experience with my pastor, I read several books on identifying your calling. The first chapters of those books all revolved around the same theme—how the Lord calls your name. At that time, I meditated on my name several times, prayed and asked, but I was still not moved. In the end, I had to ignore it indifferently.
However, during the past three years of receiving theological equipment, I have been shocked time and time again by the immeasurable wisdom of the Lord, and time and time again I hope in my heart that I can truly become more "wisdom." The Bible, the word of God, is so rich that I always want to read deeper and understand more, and I always want to tell others about the greatness and wonder of the Lord. When I do this, it makes me feel the most free and become own time. After several years of exploration and study, today, I finally understand how the Lord has called me.Lord, may I become Your wisdom, a vessel that belongs to You, and be filled with Your wisdom, so that I can’t help but share Your outpouring greatness with my brothers and sisters.
